A grisly discovery in Adarsh Colony, Tijara, has shocked residents after police found a decomposed body inside a sealed drum on the rooftop of a rented house.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar, the victim has been identified as Hansraj, also known as Suraj, a native of Uttar Pradesh who worked at a brick kiln in nearby Kishangarh Bas. He had rented the house roughly six weeks ago and lived there with his wife and three children. Disturbingly, none of them has been seen or heard from since the incident.

The discovery occurred when the landlord—a senior woman—visited the first floor for routine work but was forced to return immediately due to a strong, foul odor. Upon her return, she contacted the local police.

On arrival, law enforcement found the body inside a blue drum tightly sealed with a stone placed on its lid, presumably to contain the smell. A civilian-clothed policeman, face covered by a handkerchief, removed the stone and lifted the lid to expose the grim sight.

Authorities have launched a forensic investigation and are collecting evidence at the scene. It remains unclear how long the body lay undiscovered or what led to the man’s death. Police are also reaching out to the victim’s family for more information.

This disturbing incident echoes a similar case from March earlier this year in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, where a man was murdered by his wife and her alleged lover, dismembered, and buried in a drum under wet cement. That case came to light when the victim’s daughter repeatedly told neighbors, “Papa drum mein hain” (“Father is in the drum”).

As the investigation continues, police are urging anyone with information regarding Hansraj’s wife and children to come forward and assist with the probe.
