He risked his life to save babies from a terrible fire at the NICU of Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College in Jhansi.

His name was Yakub Mansuri. His twin girls died in the fire, and he tried very hard to save them.

The fire broke out around 10:45 PM on Friday night, most likely because of a short circuit in the electricity. Mansuri, who was sleeping outside of the children’s ward, ran into the NICU, which was on fire, to save the babies. He saved a few babies, but his girls were among the burned bodies and he couldn’t find them.

Ten infant babies died in the accident, and sixteen others were seriously hurt. The government of Uttar Pradesh has said it will help the families who were touched by the accident by giving them money and ordering an investigation into what happened.

One of the most moving things about Mansuri’s story is how brave people can be when bad things happen. And he still wants justice for his children and the other fire victims. Many people are moved by his bravery and sacrifice.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) from the Uttar Pradesh government has shared its initial findings. They confirmed that a short circuit caused the fire. This issue was linked to outdated electrical infrastructure. Several hospital staff members, like the maintenance supervisor and on-duty technicians, are suspended. This will last until the inquiry is complete.

In response to growing public outrage and widespread support for Yakub Mansuri, the government has announced a compensation package increase and assured strict legal action against those found guilty of negligence. The Jhansi district administration has started structural audits of other government hospitals. This aims to prevent similar incidents.

Yakub Mansuri, a source of inspiration for many, has been nominated posthumously for a state bravery award. This nomination comes from his twin daughters. His call for justice has reignited talks about accountability and safety in public healthcare.
