West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee swiftly mobilized rescue teams to the accident site. Senior administrative staff, doctors, ambulances, and disaster response teams were dispatched to provide assistance and medical aid. In a statement, CM Banerjee expressed her concern and commitment to addressing the situation promptly.

She said, “Shocked to learn, just now, about a tragic train accident in Phansidewa area of Darjeeling district. Action on a war-footing has been initiated for rescue, recovery, and medical assistance”.
